Well, I already have…and I hate it.

KES 32,000 earning roughly KES 5 a day? Unacceptable. I understand that investing is a long-term game, but surely my hard-earned savings can do better than that. Maybe I'd be okay with these returns if this were money I'd forgotten about and left to grow. But unfortunately, I'm very much aware of it, might be all l have and watching it earn so little is so frustrating.

I've been looking for alternative investments. But before I move my money, here's why I might have to painfully hold on to Ziidi for a while.

Disclaimer: These are my opinions based on my experience as an entrepreneur and investment enthusiast. This is not professional investment advice.

The convenience is hard to give up.

I've explored a number of alternatives, including Kuza. The returns were much better, but accessing my money felt like a hurdle. I'd have to visit the site, submit a withdrawal request and wait, a 72-hour waiting period. By the time l got it, l had forgotten what l needed it for.

Ziidi, on the other hand, felt more like savings. I could deposit money in the evening and withdraw it the following afternoon. Even if it had earned almost nothing, I liked knowing I could access my money when I needed it, success is when preparation and opportunity meet.

The returns are frustratingly low, but the convenience is hard to give up.

So why am I still here?

I'm young and my appetite for risk is high. I'd like to put my money into investments with the highest returns, but I can’t rush that. According to The Richest Man in Babylon: don't entrust your money to investments you don't understand. There's a story about a man who invests in precious stones without understanding the trade and ends up being swindled. I would rather get negligible returns.

So, for now, I might have to keep my money in Ziidi while I research alternatives. The returns aren't what I want, but I'd rather take the time to understand an investment before moving my savings into it.

Have you found better alternatives? I'd love to hear what you're investing in, especially if you've found something that offers better returns without making your money difficult to access. I'm open to suggestions, and I'm sure there are options I haven't considered.
